Clearing CMOS memory

9.When you are prompted whether you want to move the current POST/BIOS image to the backup ROM location, press N.

Attention: If you press Y, the damaged BIOS will be copied into the secondary page.

10.When you are prompted whether you want to save the current code to a diskette, press N.

11.Select your language (0 through 5), and press Enter to accept your choice.

Attention: Do not restart the blade server at this time.

12.Remove the flash diskette from the diskette drive.

13.Turn off the blade server, remove it from the BladeCenter, and remove the cover of the blade server.

14.Move the J1E2 jumper to pins 1 and 2 to return to normal startup mode.

15.Replace the cover, and reinstall the blade server in the BladeCenter unit; then restart the blade server. The blade server starts.

CAUTION:

Hazardous energy is present when the blade server is connected to the power source. Always replace the blade cover before installing the blade server.

Clearing CMOS memory

Complete the following steps to clear CMOS memory:

1.Review the safety information beginning on page 109.

2.Turn off the blade server, and remove the blade server from the BladeCenter unit.

3.Open the top cover.

4.Find the configuration switch block on the I/O board. For the location of the configuration switch block, see “Switches and jumpers” on page 38.

5.Flip switch 3 from the Off position to the On position.

6.Wait 10 seconds; then, flip the switch to the Off position.

7.Reconnect all external cables and the power cord.

8.Turn on all attached devices, and restart the blade server.
