8. Operation

8.1 Switching on

When using a gas discharge lamp*, the external supply unit* must be turned on separately.

Switch on the microscope at the on/off switch (37.1).

8.2Stages and Object Displacement Lengthening the Coaxial Pinion (telescoping)*

For lengthening, pull the lower grip (38b.1) downward. Repeat with the upper grip (38b.2).

Torque Adjustment*

The torque for x and y can be individually adjusted using two knurled rings (38b.2, 38b.4).

Adjusting the Travel Range of the Stage

The travel range in e-w direction of the stage could slightly decrease after a longer period of working with the microscope. This can be corrected as follows:

Move the object guide all the way to the left side of the microscope to the current end of the travel range with the coaxial pinion. Push one of the screws which hold the object guide further to the left with your hand as far as it will go. Afterwards move the object guide all the way to the right. Here also push the screw gently, this time to the right, to the limit. The original travel range of the stage is restored.
