Message displays

The following explains the meaning of major messages displayed on the monitor or viewfinder, and how to respond to them.

Memory cards

[Memory Card Error] [Format this card?]

••The card format cannot be used with this camera.

→ Save needed data on a computer or other device, and then use [Format] on the camera. (→26)

[Insert SD card again] [Try another card]

••Access to card has failed. → Insert card again.

••Try with a different card.

[Read Error] / [Write Error] [Please check the card]

••Data read has failed.

Check whether card has been inserted correctly (→24)

••Data write has failed.

Turn off the camera and remove the card. Reinsert the card and turn the camera on again.

••Card may possibly be damaged.

Try with a different card.

[Motion recording was cancelled due to the limitation of the writing speed of the card]

••The speed class of a required card varies depending on [Rec Format] and [Rec Quality] of a motion picture. Be sure to use a card of the recommended speed class. For details, refer to “About the motion picture recording and speed class” (→25).

If recording stops even when using a card of the recommended speed class (→25), the data writing speed has dropped. If this happens, we recommend backing up the data on the memory card and formatting it (→26).

[Memory Card Error] [This memory card cannot be used]

••Not compatible with the camera. Use a compatible card.

[Cannot record due to incompatible format(NTSC/PAL) data on this card.]

••Format the card after saving necessary data on a PC etc. (→26) → Insert a different card.
