2D mode A mode of operation where the display represents reflected ultrasound information as points of
light of varying intensity arrayed linearly, concordant with the arrival time.
Angio mode This mode presents two-dimensional, real-time Doppler or time shift information superimposed
as colored pixels on a real-time, gray scale anatomic cross-sectional image. The colored pixel
information represents the amplitudes of the selected blood flows within the angio window.
Archive A depository for the final reports.
Color mode This mode presents two-dimensional, real-time Doppler or time shift information superimposed
as colored pixels on a real-time, gray scale anatomic cross-sectional image. Flow directions
toward and away from the transducer are presented as different colors on the display. The
colored pixel information represents the velocities of all the blood flows, or the flow velocities,
within the color window.
CW Doppler mode In the Continuous Wave Doppler mode, the transducer array uses separate transmitting and
receiving piezoelectric elements. It processes the entire continuum of reflected signal
information, regardless of delay. The detected frequency shifts can produce audio signals, or they
can display graphically in a spectral trace.
Control Any mechanism (softkey, touch key, push button, toggle, rotary knob, etc.) that changes a
parameter that, in turn, affects the displayed image.
Control setting The current setting of an active control.
Custom preset A preset created by the user.
Default preset A preset created at the factory and shipped with the ultrasound system.
