MP3 files!MP3is short for MPEG Audio Layer 3 and
refersto an audio compression technology
standard.
!Thisunit allows playback of MP3 files on
CD-ROM,CD-R and CD -RW discs. Disc re-
cordingscompatible with level 1 and level 2
ofISO9660 and with the Romeo and Joliet
filesystem can be played back.
!Itis possible to play back multi-session
compatiblerecorded discs.
!MP3files are not compatible with packet
writedata transfer.
!Themax. number of characters which can
bedisplayed for a file name, including the
extension(.mp3), is 32 characters from the
firstcharacter.

!Incase of files recorded according to the
Romeoand Joliet file system, only the first
32characters can be displayed.
!Whenplaying discs with MP3 files and

!Thefolder selection sequence for playback
andother operations becomes the writing
sequenceused by the writing software. For
thisreason, the expected sequence at the
timeof playback may not coincide with the

mitssetting of the playback order.
!Filesare compatible with the ID3 Tag Ver.
1.0and Ver. 1.1 formats for display of
album(disc title), track (track title) and ar-

!Onlywhen MP3 files of 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz
frequenciesare played back, the emphasis
functionis valid. (16, 22.05, 24, 32, 44.1, 48
kHzsampling frequencies can be played

!Thereis no compatibility with the MP3i
(MP3interactive) or mp3 PRO format.
!Thesound quality of MP3 files generally be-
comesbetter with increasing bit rate. This
unitcan play recordings with bit rates from
8kbps to 320 kbps, but in order to be able
toenjoy a certain sound quality, it is recom-
mendedto use only discs recorded with a
bitrate of at least 128 kbps.
