RDS (radio data system) is a system for provid- ing information along with FM broadcasts. This inaudible information provides such fea- tures as program service name, program type, traffic announcement standby and automatic tuning, and is intended to aid radio listeners in finding and tuning in to a desired station.
1Band indicator
Shows which band the radio is tuned to, MW/LW or FM.
2Stereo (5) indicator
Shows when the selected frequency is being broadcast in stereo.
3Preset number indicator
Shows which preset has been selected.
4LOC indicator
Shows when local seek tuning is on.
5Signal level indicator Shows the radio wave strength.
6TEXT indicator
Shows when the radio text is received.
7PTY (program type ID code) informa- tion
Shows the PTY (program type ID code) infor- mation

! If a PTY code of zero is received from a station, display is blank. This indicates that the station has not defined its pro- gram contents.
! If the signal is too weak for this unit to pick up the PTY code, the PTY informa- tion display is blank.

Shows the name of broadcast program.

FUNCTION, AUDIO and ENTERTAINMENT appear on the display.
2Use
FUNCTION.
Turn to change the menu option; press to se- lect.
The function name appears on the display.
