You can change the level of backlighting and contrast for the screen. The key backlighting remains on to enable the keys to be seen at all times.
To turn the display unit off, press and hold the POWER key for at least 3 sec- onds. A countdown timer is displayed; when it reaches zero the display and key back-lights extinguish.
This section explains how to switch the chartplotter on and off.
To turn the chartplotter display unit on, press the POWER key. The keys light up, the display unit beeps and the RayChart logo is displayed, followed by the following warning:

When you have read and understood the warning, press the ENTER key. The chart is displayed.
If this is the first time that the chartplotter has been switched on, and no chart card is installed, the display shows the small-scale world map at Lat 0°/Lon 0°. Otherwise, the display shows the selected chart area and any data that were displayed when the display unit was last used.
