Configuring a Windows XP computer
Follow these steps to configure a Windows XP computer to use the TCP/IP protocol.

AClick [Start] on the taskbar, point to [Control Panel], and then click [Network and Internet Con-
nections].

BClick [Local Area Connection]. On the [File] menu, click [Properties].

CConfirm that "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" is selected in the [Components checked are used by
this connection:] box under the [General] tab.
Note
If the check box for TCP/IP protocol is not selected, select the box.
If the TCP/IP protocol is not installed, click [Install] under the [General] tab and inst all it. For more
information about installing the TCP/IP protocol, see Windows XP Help file.

DConfigure the TCP/IP protocols with an appropriate IP address, subnet mask and other set-
tings.
Confirm with the network administrator that the settings are correct.
