The TELEPERM M process control system consists of function-
ally different components which are opti mized for the various
problems encountered in process automation. Becaus e of their
modular design, these components are al so referred to as sys-
tems.
The TELEPERM M process control system is dividedinto
ASautomation systems,
OS operationand monitoring systemsand
CS275 bus system.
TheCS 275 bus system is responsiblefor communicationbe-
tween all TELEPERM M components and to components of ot her
systemsby means of s erial data transmission on s tranded con-
ductors (local bus) or coaxial cables (remote bus) , if applicable
also via optical fibers . Data exchange is mainly between the AS
automationsystems themselvesas well as betweenautomation
systems,OS operation and monitoringsystems and central
configuring console and the AS and OS systems.
In order to satisfy the hi gh demands made on data communica-
tion in process control technology, the CS 275 bus system has
been particularly optimi zed for the following demands:
Efficient data transmiss ion
Highdata reliability and availability
Uniformsystem time
Automatic establishment of communicati on.
TheCS 275 bus system has exceptionalreal --timeproperti es.
Every bus participant is provi dedwit ht hecur rentproces s data
at alltimes. The capacity of thebus system is large enough
such that sufficient reserv e is available for transmit ting mes-
sages (e. g. process alarm s) even with a high cyclic loading.
Automatictest routines guarantee datareliability. The user can
configure which messages must be acknowl edged by the re-
ceiver. The failure of a bus component has no infl uence on the
communication between the other parti cipants.
