2.2Ports of SCALANCE X-400

SCALANCE X-400 provides you with electrical ports that can be used as gigabit and ring ports. The expansion with media modules provides you with additional op- tical ports. By using an extender module, you can increase the number of ports by a maximum of eight ports.

2.2.110Base-T / 100Base-TX

Transmission Rate

The transmission rate of the electrical ports is 10 Mbps or as fast Ethernet ports 100 Mbps.

Transmission Mode

The transmission mode for 10Base-T / 100Base-TX is specified in the IEEE 802.3i / IEEE 802.3u standards of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

Autonegotiation (automatic detection of the best transmission modes) is standard. The order in which they are selected is:

●100Base-TX full duplex

●100Base-TX half duplex

●10Base-T full duplex

●10Base-T half duplex

Two communication modes are possible:

●Half duplex mode

two-way alternate - it is only possible to either send or receive over the inter- faces at any one time.

●Full duplex mode

two-way simultaneous - both communication partners can send and receive at the same time.
