NEGOTIATION
25-5negotiation
This command enables autonegotiation for a given interface. Use the no
form to disable autonegotiation.
Syntax
[no] negotiation
Default Setting
Ports 1-16: Permanently disabled
Ports 17-19: Enabled
Command Mode
Interface Configuration (Ethernet - Ports 17-19, Port Channel)
Command Usage
1000BASE-T does not support forced mode. Auto-negotiation
should always be used to establish a connection over any
1000BASE-T port or trunk.
When auto-negotiation is enabled the switch negotiate the best
settings for a link based on the capabilites command. When
auto-negotiation is disabled, you must manually specify the link
attributes with the speed-duplex and flowcontrol commands.
If autonegotiation is disabled, auto-MDI/MDI-X pin signal
configuration will also be disabled for the RJ-45 ports.
Example
The following example configures port 11 to use autonegotiation.
