PRINTER CONTROL COMMANDS

Theprinter hastwo emulation modes: Standard/Epson modeand IBM mode.
InStandard/Epson mode.the printeremulates thefunctions ofthe EpsonLQ-
860/850, and the graphics commands for NEC 24-wire printers. In IBM
mode, theprinter emulates the IBM Proprinter X24 E/24Pand PS/1 printer.
Additionalcommand codes are included as asuperset of these emulations.
The emulation ischanged by means of EDS switch A-1. When it is ON. the
printer will be in Standard/Epson mode, and when OFF, the printer will be
in IBM mode (see Chapter 5).
In addition. when the EDS switch A-2 is ON, the printer automatically
changes theemulation by means of software control.
Thischapter describes the printer’scontrol commands.Some commands are
common to both the standard and IBM modes. In the descriptions of the
commands. allcommands will given by functions. The name of each com-
mand isfollowed by atable like the one below:

Indicatesthe mode in which the command is recognized.
Std. Standard/Epson mode (EDS switch A-1 isON. )
IBM IBM mode (EDS switch A-1 isOFF. )
Both BothStandard/Epson and IBM modes
Indicatesthe ASCII coding of the command. Control char-
acters are enclosed in pointed brackets: For example, <1>
means character code 1.
Decimal: Gives the command indecimal character codes.
Hexadecimal: Givesthe command inhexadecimal character codes.
Parameters for which valuesmust be supplied are indicated by italic letters
such as H. mor d.
