Connecting the interface cable
Connect the printer to your computer using astandard Centronics parallel
interfacecable. On aPS/2 or PC/AT-type computer, this means that you use
the25-pin D-typeconnector atthecomputerend, and theAmphenol-type 36-
pinconnector at theprinter end.The configuration of the printer’sconnector
is given in Chapter 11should you need acable for connecting to another
computer.
If you need to connect to aserial port, use the optional Serial-Parallel
Corwerter, SPC-8K.
Follow the procedures below to connect the interfacecable:
1. Turn off the power switch both the printer and the computer.
2. Connect the interface cable to the printer as shown in Figure 2
Make surethat you press the plug into the interface connector. 12.

3. Moveboth clips inside theextended prongs on the sides of the plug until
you hear aclick.

4. Connectthe other end of the interface cable to your computer. Use your
computer instructionsto attach the interface cable.
