Chapter 5 Advanced Configuration / Network Management
To configure a virtual server set, define the following settings in the Virtual Server configuration menu located in the top half of the browser window.

Name Yo u can assign a name to a Virtual ser ver entry fo r
easier id entificatio n.
Private I P
This is t he IP addres s of the se rver on your LAN that
will pro vide the serv ice to remot e users. Thi s Private IP
address i s used to di rect the ser vice to a sp ecific
computer on your priv ate network such as an FT P,
Email or public web server. Type in the addres s of the
server us ed for the s ervice being configured here.
Protocol
Type
You can select the tr ansport prot ocol (TCP or UDP) that
the appli cation on th e virtual se rver will us e for its
connectio ns. Select r edirect TCP, UDP or Both (All)
types of packets from the pull –d own menu. Th e choice
of this p rotocol is dependent on t he applicat ion that is
providin g the service . If you do not know whi ch protocol
to choose , check your application’ s document.
Private
Port
This is t he TCP/UDP p ort on LAN (P rivate) inte rface.
Keep in m ind that if you use a non -standard po rt
number fo r an applica tion with a reserved UDP /TCP
port, som e additional configurati on may be re quired for
the serve rs or workst ations using the applica tion on the
LAN side.
Port redi rection must be used wit h a specifie d server or
computer on the LAN ( identified by the Privat e IP
address)
