|
Classifier and Policy | You can create a policy to define actions to be performed on a traffic flow grouped by a |
| classifier according to specific criteria such as the IP address, port number or protocol |
| type, etc. |
Queuing | Queuing is used to help solve performance degradation when there is network |
| congestion. Three scheduling services are supported: Strict Priority Queuing (SPQ) |
| and Weighted Round Robin (WRR). This allows the switch to maintain separate |
| queues for packets from each individual source or flow and prevent a source from |
| monopolizing the bandwidth. |
Port Mirroring | Port mirroring allows you to copy traffic going from one or all ports to another or all |
| ports in order that you can examine the traffic from the mirror port (the port you copy |
| the traffic to) without interference. |
Static Route | Static routes tell the switch how to forward IP traffic when you configure the TCP/IP |
| parameters manually. |
Multicast VLAN Registration | Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) is designed for applications (such as |
(MVR) | Demand (MoD)) using multicast traffic across a network. MVR allows one single |
| multicast VLAN to be shared among different subscriber VLANs on the network. |
| This improves bandwidth utilization by reducing multicast traffic in the subscriber |
| VLANs and simplifies multicast group management. |
RSTP (Rapid Spanning | RSTP detects and breaks network loops and provides backup links between switches, |
Tree Protocol) / MRSTP | bridges or routers. It allows a switch to interact with other RSTP |
(Multiple RSTP) | your network to ensure that only one path exists between any two stations on the |
| network. MRSTP allows you to configure multiple RSTP configurations and assign |
| ports to each tree. |
Link Aggregation | Link aggregation (trunking) is the grouping of physical ports into one logical higher- |
| capacity link. You may want to trunk ports if for example, it is cheaper to use multiple |
| |
Port Authentication and | For security, the switch allows authentication using IEEE 802.1x with an external |
Security | RADIUS server and port security that allows only packets with dynamically learned |
| MAC addresses and/or configured static MAC addresses to pass through a port on the |
| switch. For redundancy, multiple RADIUS servers can be configured. |
Device Management | Use the web configurator to easily configure the rich range of features on the switch. |
|
|
Firmware Upgrade | Download new firmware (when available) from the ZyXEL web site and use the web |
| configurator, CLI or an FTP/TFTP tool to put it on the switch. |
| Note: Only upload firmware for your specific model! |
Configuration Backup & | Make a copy of the switch’s configuration and put it back on the switch later if you |
Restoration | decide you want to revert back to an earlier configuration. |
Cluster Management | Cluster management (also known as iStacking) allows you to manage switches |
| through one switch, called the cluster manager. The switches must be directly |
| connected and be in the same VLAN group so as to be able to communicate with one |
| another. |
Configure Clone | The switch allows you to copy multiple attributes of one port and apply them to other |
| ports on the switch. |
