Entering Names
You can enter names (up to 16 letters) to correspond with numbers you have entered into the Directory or a memory key. The following paragraphs explain how to enter letters using the dial pad. Before you can use the dial pad to enter names, you must first save or edit a number in the Directory or a memory key.
To program a name, find the dial pad key that has the first character of the name. Keep watching the display as you press the key until that character appears on the display. Press a different dial pad key for the next character. If the next character is on the same key, press ‘to move to the next space. To display upper case letters, press ˙, then press the appropriate dial pad key.
For example: to enter the name Ruth, press these keys:

If you wish to change a digit or letter after you have entered it, press “to erase it.

To backspace and erase a mistake, press “. To insert a space, press ‘.
Call Announce (Voice Tag)
You can record a brief announcement associated with an entry in the Directory. See Cre-
ating a New Directory Entry on page 21 for more information on Directory entries. Generally this announcement is the name of a person matching the entry. When an incom- ing number matches a number in the Directory, the Call Announcement (Voice Tag) is played through the 9516CW speaker.†
To record a name for Call Announce (Voice Tag) to the Directory:
1.Press ¢.
2.Press ªto scroll to the name or use the dial pad to enter the name. For infor-
mation about entering names, refer to Entering Names , above.
3.Press “to begin editing.
4.Press ßthree times.
5.Lift the handset and press §.
6.Record the announcement.
7.Press ßtwice.
8.Press ®.
Note : If you have adjusted your speaker volume, your Call Announcement (Voice Tag) will be played through the speaker at the new volume. See Controlling the Speaker Volume on page 11 for more information.
