Troubleshooting
The display is in the alternate language.
You can change to the other language by pressing the Set Options key, then pressing ‚⁄ and pressing •.
The cursor does not move when I am saving in the Directory.
The number or name is too long. Numbers can be no longer than 24 digits and names can be no longer than 16 characters.
Callers are not identified on the display.
Let the telephone ring at least twice before answering. If that does not work, you may not have Calling Line Identification† service. To subscribe, contact your local telephone company.
The Callers List is empty.
Until you subscribe to Calling Line Identification† service, your telephone does not record incoming calls.
The Handsfree / speakerphone is not working.
If the speakerphone is not working, the option for the headset may be enabled. To fix this problem, go to option 22 and turn it off.
I cannot hear a caller or be heard.
Make sure the handset cord is inserted securely into the jack and make sure the receiver volume is high enough.
The caller is hearing the greeting twice before being able to leave a message.
The auto attendant, option 19, has been enabled, which makes the greeting play two times. Disable this option to correct the problem.
The power is out and the display is blank.
9516CW still operates as a regular telephone during a power failure. You can dial using the dial pad and you can receive calls, but the answering machine, other keys or the display will not operate until the power is restored.
The display works but you cannot hear a dial tone.
Your telephone lines may be wired differently from the telephone jack. To have a service person correct the wiring, contact your local telephone company.
Also check to ensure that the Headset mode is disabled.
The telephone wobbles.
Check that the handset cord is placed in the channel between the stand and the telephone. See the illustration on page 4.
I cannot program a memory key.
