n MDI stands for Media Dependent Interface of the Ethernet. Normally, the interfaces on the network cards belong to this type. MDIX stands for Cross Media Dependent Interface, which is usually adopted on HUBs or LAN Switches.

Interface Cable Normally, category-5 twisted pair cable is adopted to connect the 10BASE-T /100BASE-TX Ethernet interface to the Ethernet, as shown in the following figure:
