Repairing a damaged disk

You can repair some types of disk damage by using the Disk First Aid program, which is on the system software CD-ROM disc that came with your computer.

1Start up your computer from the system software CD-ROM disc that came with your computer.

See “Starting Up From the System Software CD-ROM Disc” later in this chapter.

2Locate the Disk First Aid icon and double-click it to open the Disk First Aid program.

3Click the icon of the disk you want to test.

Disk icons appear in a box at the top of the Disk First Aid window.
