Problem Solving

Read this section if you run into trouble with your CD-Writer Plus drive. If after reviewing the section you need further assistance, call the phone numbers listed in “Appendix B: Customer Support”

Gather the information on page B-1 before calling for help. Having this information ready will greatly facilitate your call.

Things to Try First

■Does your computer meet the minimum system requirements (see“Minimum System Requirements” on page A-1 )?

■Make sure your computer and CD-Writer Plus drive are plugged in and that each device attached to your computer is turned on.

■Turn off the computer’s power, unplug the CD-Writer Plus drive, and wait 20 seconds. Then plug in the CD-Writer Plus drive and turn on your computer. (This is called cycling power.)

■Disconnect all the cables and then reconnect them. Sometimes just reconnecting a cable aligns it correctly or adjusts the pin connections, fixing a faulty connection. (Check for bent pins on the connectors and straighten them.)

■Make sure that you are using the right type of CD. See “Choosing CDs for Your CD-Writer” on page 2-2.

■Try the operation with a different CD.

■Check the list of known compatibility problems (page 3-7) and in the Readme file.
