Sometimes when you sew, you want to control the fabric yourself. The darning plate covers the feed dogs so the feed dogs do not touch the fabric To put on the darning plate:

NOTE: The rectangular holes in the darning plate match the holes in the needle plate.

Put the darning plate on the needle piate. Place fabric, with the hole in the center, on an embroidery hoop Lower the presser bar and sew at a slow speed. Move the fabric back and forth slow]y until the darning area is covered. Turn the fabric a 1/4 turn ( 90°) and sew another layer of stitching over the first layer.

NOTE: If fabric is thin or badly damaged, use a separate piece of fabric under the hole to reinforce it
