This is useful in garment construction and in finishing raw edges
of any sewing project°
Stad overcasting about 1/8" (0 3cm) inside the raw corner of a
seam. If you start right at the edge, fabric bunches up and the
stitches become tangled.

Blind Hem Stitch

O Lightweight fabric
(_) Heavyweight fabric
(_) Wrong side (Bottom side) of fabric
On heavyweight fabrics that ravel, the raw edge should be
overcast first Then fold the hem, as illustratedleaving 1/4"
(0°6cm) of the hem edge showing.
Position thefabric on the machine so that the needle just
pierces the folded part of the fabric when the needle comes
over to the extreme left side of wide zigzag stitch
Lower the presser foot.
After hemming is completed, press both sides of the finished
hem..The top side of the fabric shows only the blind stitches
