Sending Documents Requested by Another Fax Machine (Polling Transmission)

Sometimes it is useful to simply load your documents into your fax machine and set it to wait for the receiving fax machine to call and collect them. This is called setting your fax machine to be polled, or polling transmission. Your machine holds data in memory until transmission occurs.

An example of polling transmission is a hospital pharmacy facsimile contacting each unit’s facsimile (Pediatrics, Cardiology, Critical Care, etc.) for prescription orders. Staff can load the prescription orders into the unit facsimile machine. The pharmacy facsimile contacts the each unit facsimile and requests the orders.

There are three types of polling transmission.

Feeder (Document Tray) Polling

Memory Polling

Fax on Demand (Memory Polling [Bulletin])
