FIM – Fluorescence Intensity Manager

FIM consists of a diaphragm disk with pinhole diaphragms of varying transmission capaci- ties. The intensity of the excitation light can be reduced in five fixed steps. The light can be changed from 100% to 55%, 30% and 17% down to 10%.

The advantage of this procedure is its absolute reproducibility and fast switching between the intensity levels. A separate FIM level can be stored for every fluorescence filter. Different intensities of fluorescence can thus be cali- brated to one another.
