6. Preventive Maintenance

This chapter describes procedures for printer preventive maintenance. Following these recommendations can help prevent problems and maintain optimum performance.

Lubrication

Warning: Petroleum-based lubricants can attack polycarbonate parts causing premature failure. Use only mineral oil-based lubricants.

The following parts should be lubricated when replaced:

•Oil felt (carrier block)

•Tractor unit

•Side frame (left)

•Side frame (right)

•Pinch roller (lower)

•Pinch roller spring (left)

•Pinch roller spring (center)

•Pinch roller spring (right)

•Paper separator

Specified Lubricants

•Oil - P/N 1280443

•Approved equivalents:

–Mobil DTE27

–Shell Tellus 100

–Fuchs Renolin MR30

•Grease - P/N 6934659

•Approved equivalent:

–Mobil 28
