You should be familiar with network administration as well as the physical setup and operation of your network.

Write down the serial number and the Ethernet or Token-Ring address of your Network Print Server. This information is on the Configuration sheet; to print it, press and hold the Test button on the Net- work Print Server below the Ethernet connector.

If necessary, install the Network Print Server hard- ware and connect the cabling—see your printer User's Guide. Install the OkiNet Utility for Net- Ware—see Install Software Utilities.

Selecting PServer or RPrinter/NPrinter Mode

Your Network Print Server supports both PServer and NPrinter mode. There are several factors to consider when choosing which mode to use.

In PServer mode, the Network Print Server operates as the print server. It services specified queues on the network. In RPrinter mode, the NetWare Print Server NLM or EXE is in control.
