SNMP

SNMP Overview

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) pro- vides network administrators with the ability to com- municate management functions between an SNMP manager and an SNMP agent. An SNMP manager is a user program the network administrator can use to manage SNMP agents. The manager can retrieve Get information from the agent or alter Set information on the agent. An agent can also send an unsolicited mes- sage Trap to a manager when it encounters an unusual condition.

The Network Print Server is a fully functional SNMP agent and supports any standard SNMP management platform, including:
