Replacing the Battery

During the initial self test, when the power is turn ºOnº, the machine will evaluate the condition of the back up battery. If the battery is weak or fully discharged, the following message will be shown on the display.

REPLACE BATTERY

To replace the battery, follow the procedure below:

Print a File List to confirm that there is no file stored in memory. (See Note 1)

To print a File List, press FUNCTION , 9 , 1 and

￿Disconnect the Power Cord.

￿Remove the Memory Card Cover.

SRemove the Battery by sliding it inward and then out of the socket.

!CAUTION

Dispose the battery properly and keep it

away from small children.

￿Install the new battery (Order No.: CR 2032) with the ⊕ side facing out.

￿Re-install the Memory Card Cover.

SConnect the Power Cord.

If the clock is flashing on the LCD Display, follow the procedure on page 24 to reset the clock.

Note: 1. If the power is turned ºOffº and the battery is weak or fully discharged, the transmit and polling information of a file stored in memory may be lost. However the received document(s) in memory will be preserved and will print out automatically after the power is restored.

2. The service life of the battery is approximately 1 year when the machine is turned ºOffº.
