6.5 CHANGE MENU

6.4SETUP - INITIAL CONFIGURATION MENU

When delivered, or if the non-volatile memory should ever be cleared, the unit must be completely configured using the SETUP, INITIAL CONFIG option. This takes the operator through all the sections of the CHANGE procedure described below to ensure all parameters are set. Only when 'SETUP, INITIAL-CONFIG' has been performed once can STATUS be selected from the main menu. This ensures operation is not selected until all critical parameters are specified.

Other options on the SETUP menu are:

Which allow the setup to be checked, and looks for unusual combinations of configuration parameters (eg IBS with rate FEC coding, multiple scramblers selected). Check does not prevent operationfwith any configuration, it is simply a convenience for the operator if there are configuration difficulties. The Setup Check takes several seconds to run and displays a message when the process is complete.

STORE, RECALL, and ERASE which allows access to the configuration memories of the Modem. The current configuration can be stored, another recalled, or an old stored configuration deleted. This provides a fast method of switching between multiple configurations when required.

It is under the Change menu that individual parameters may be varied after an initial SETUP, INITIAL- CONFIG has been performed. If the unit is operating under Remote M&C, the options on the change screen are limited to only the remote M&C configuration & the time/date:
