Administrator’s Guide for Polycom HDX Systems

To specify SIP Settings:

1.Go to System > Admin Settings > Network > IP > SIP Settings.

2.Configure these settings on the SIP Settings screen:

Transport

Indicates the protocol the system uses for SIP signaling.

Protocol

The SIP network infrastructure in which your Polycom HDX

 

system is operating determines which protocol is required. For

 

example, if your Polycom HDX system is operating in a

 

Microsoft® Live Communication Server (LCS) SIP network,

 

choose TCP. If your Polycom HDX system is operating in a

 

Nortel Multimedia Communication Server (MCS) SIP network,

 

choose UDP.

 

 

User Name

Specifies the system’s SIP name. If you leave this field blank, the

 

system’s IP address is the SIP user name.

 

 

Password

Specifies the password that authenticates the system to the

 

Registrar Server.

 

 

Registrar

Specifies the DNS name or IP address of the SIP Registrar

Server

Server.

 

By default, the SIP signaling is sent to port 5060 on the registrar

 

server. To specify a different port, add it to the address as shown

 

here:

 

10.11.12.13:5070

 

 

Proxy Server

Specifies the DNS name or IP address of the SIP Proxy Server. If

 

you leave this field blank, no proxy server is used.

 

By default, the SIP signaling is sent to port 5060 on the proxy

 

server. To specify a different port, add it to the address as shown

 

here:

 

10.11.12.13:5070

 

 

Points to note about SIP:

The SIP protocol has been widely adapted for voice over IP communications and basic video conferencing; however, many of the advanced video conferencing capabilities are not yet standardized. Many capabilities also depend on the SIP server.
