Printer tab (Continued)
Menu Option | Functions |
|
|
TrueType mode | Allows you to set how to handle the fonts in |
| your document. If you select Download as |
| Outline, the driver will download any True |
| Type fonts that are used in your document but |
| not already stored on your printer. If you find |
| that the fonts do not print correctly, choose |
| Download as Bit image and resubmit your |
| print job. When printing documents with high |
| graphic content and relatively few True Type |
| fonts, choose Download as Graphics. This |
| option is only available when Graphic mode is |
| set to Raster. |
|
|
Use device fonts | When this is checked, the printer uses the fonts |
| that are stored in memory to print your |
| document rather than downloading the fonts |
| used in your document. Because downloading |
| fonts takes time, selecting this option can speed |
| up your printing. |
|
|
All text to black | When this is checked, all text in your document |
| is printed solid black regardless of the color it |
| appears on the screen. When it is not checked, |
| colored text is printed in shades of gray. |

Overlay tab
A page overlay, similar to the watermark feature, is a group of PCL commands and/or data created by the user that is downloaded and stored in the printer. Once stored in the printer, a page overlay can be invoked upon request, again and again. Page overlays eliminate the need to download the same information over and over again, thus saving transmission time. For more details on using overlay, click the Help button.
