3Enter the number you want to store, and press Enter.

4To assign a name to the number, enter the desired name. For details on how to enter names, see “Entering Characters Using the Number Keypad” on page 1.38.

If you do not want to assign a name, skip this step.

5Press Enter when the name appears correctly or simply without entering a name.

6To store more telephone numbers, repeat steps 2 through 5.

Or

To return to Standby mode, press Cancel/Reset.

Sending a Fax using a Speed Dial Number

1Load the document(s) face down into the document feeder. “DOCUMENT READY” appears in the display.

2You can adjust the resolution and the contrast to suit your fax needs. For details, see page 5.3.

3Press Speed.

4Enter the speed dial number using the number keypad.

You can scroll through the numbers stored in memory by using the Scroll buttons ( or ).

5When the desired number appears in the display, press Enter.

6Press Start FAX Black to send a black and white fax or Start FAX Color to send a colour fax.

The fax number stored in the speed dial location will be automatically dialled and the document will be sent when the remote fax machine answers.
