Observe the following safeguards when set ting up your
projector.
Caution concerning the lamp unit
Potential hazard of glass par ticles if lamp
ruptures. In case of lamp rupture , contact
your nearest Sharp Authori zed Projector
Dealer or Service Center
for replacement.

Caution concernin g the setup of the
projector
For minimal servicing and to ma intain high
image quality, SHARP recommen ds that
this projector be installed i n an area free
from humidity, dust and cigaret te smoke.
When the projector is subjec ted to these
environments, the vents and le ns must be
cleaned more often. As long as t he
projector is regularly cle aned, use in these
environments will not reduce t he overall
operation life of the unit. Interna l cleaning
should only be performed by a Sharp
Authorized Projector Deale r or Service
Center.
Rest your eyes occasional ly.
Continuously watching the scre en for long
hours will cause eye strain. Take regular
breaks to rest your eyes.
Do not set up the projector in places
exposed to direct sunlight or bright light.
Position the screen so that it is no t in direct
sunlight or room light. Light fal ling directly
on the screen washes out the colo rs,
making viewing diffi cult. Close the curtains
and dim the lights when setting up t he
screen in a sunny or bright room.
Caution regarding placing of the projector
Place the projector on a level site wit hin the
adjustment range (9 degree s) of the
adjustment foot.
After the projector is purch ased, a faint
smell from the vent may appear whe n the
power is fi rst turned on. This is normal and
is not a malfunction. It will disap pear after
the projector is used for a while.

When using the projec tor in high-
altitude areas such a s mountains (at
altitudes of approx imately 1,500
meters (4,900 feet ) or more)
When you use the projector in high -altitude
areas with thin air, set “Fan Mode” to
“High”. Neglecting this can affect t he
longevity of the optical system.
Use the projector at altitudes of 2, 300
meters (7,500 feet) or less.
Warning about placin g the projector in
a high position
When placing the projector in a h igh
position, make certain it is c arefully secure
to avoid personal injury cau sed by the
projector falling down.
Do not subject the proje ctor to hard
impact and/or vibration.
Protect the lens so as not to hit or damag e
the surface of the lens.
Avoid locations with ex tremes of
temperature.
The operating temperature o f the projector
is from 41°F to 95°F (+5°C to +35°C).
The storage temperature of the p rojector is
from –4°F to 140°F (–20°C to +60°C).
Do not block the exhaust a nd intake
vents.
Allow at least 11 13/16 inches (30 cm) of
space between the exhaust vent a nd the
nearest wall or obstruction .
Ensure that the intake vent and the exha ust
vent are not obstructed.
If the cooling fan becomes obst ructed, a
protection circuit will automa tically put the
projector into Standby mode to pr event
overheat damage. This does no t indicate a
malfunction. (See pages 76 and 77.)
Remove the projector power cord fr om the
wall outlet and wait at least 10 minutes.
Place the projector where the int ake and
exhaust vents are not blocked, plu g the
power cord back in and turn on the
projector. This will return the proj ector to
the normal operating condit ion.
