Caution Concerning Lamp Replacement
This projector utilizes a press urized mercury lamp. A lou d sound may indicate lamp fai lure. Lamp
failure can be attributed to nume rous sources such as: excessi ve shock, improper coolin g, surface
scratches or deterioration of the l amp due to a lapse of usage time.
The period of time up to failure large ly varies depending o n the individual lamp and /or the condition
and the frequency of use. It is impor tant to note that failure can of ten result in the bulb crac king.
When the lamp replacement in dicator and on-screen di splay icon are illuminate d, it is recommended that
the lamp be replaced with a new one i mmediately, even if the lamp app ears to be operating norm ally.
Should the lamp break, there is al so a possibility that gl ass particles may spre ad inside of the
projector. In such a case, it is recommend ed you contact your nearest S harp Authorized Projecto r
Dealer or Service Cente r to assure safe operation.
Should the lamp break, the glas s particles may spread i nside the lamp cage or gas co ntained in the
lamp may be vented into the room from the exhau st vent. Because the gas in this l amp includes
mercury, ventilate the room well if the lamp br eaks and avoid all exposure to the re leased gas. In
case of exposure to the gas, consult a doc tor as soon as possible.
Caution
Do not remove the lamp unit from the proj ector right after use. The l amp will be very hot and may
cause burns or injury.
Wait at least one hour after the powe r cord is disconnected to all ow the surface of the lamp uni t to
fully cool before removing the la mp unit.
Do not touch the glass surface of the l amp unit or the inside of the pro jector.
Do not loosen other screws except for the la mp unit cover and lamp unit.
Make sure to reset the lamp timer only w hen replacing the lamp. If you re set the lamp timer and
continue to use the same lamp, this may ca use the lamp to become damag ed or explode.
Carefully chang e the lamp by followi ng the instruc tions descri bed on pages 78 to 80.
*If yo u wish, you may have th e lamp replaced a t your nearest Sh arp Authorize d Projector
Dealer or Servic e Center.
* If the n ew lamp does not light af ter replacement, take you r projector to the neares t Sharp Authorized
Projector Dealer or Serv ice Center for repair.
