Thefollowing table lists and describes the properties that appear on the HL7 MSH Segment

pageof the Properties Editor accessed from the Connectivity Map. These properties dene the

congurationof the MSH segment of the HL7 message. For more information about this

segment,refer to the HL7 specication (http://www.hl7.org).

Name Description
FieldSeparator Thecharacter that separates the segment ID and the rst real eld. This value
denesthe character that is used as a separator for the rest of the message and is
therst eld in the HL7 MSH segment (MSH-01).
Thevalue is a decimal ASCII number, and the allowed range is 1 to 127. The
defaultsetting is 124, which is the pipe character (|).

Thisis the second eld in the HL7 MSH segment (MSH-02).
Thedefault is ^~\& (ASCII 94, 126, 92, and 38) respectively.
SendingApplication A user-dened value for the sending application among other applications within
thenetwork enterprise. The network enterprise consists of the applications that
participatein the exchange of HL7 messages within the enterprise. The default is
Sun HL7 adapter.
Thisis the third eld in the HL7 MSH segment (MSH-03).
SendingFacility Auser-dened value that further identies the sending application among
multipleidentical instances of the application running on behalf of dierent
organizations.The default is Sun HL7 adapter.
Thisis the fourth eld in the HL7 MSH segment (MSH-04).
ReceivingApplication Auser-dened value for the receiving application among other applications
withinthe network enterprise. The default value is Sun HL7 adapter.
Thisis the fth eld in the HL7 MSH segment (MSH-05).
