H323 Profile [1..1] CallSetup Mode

The H.323 Call Setup Mode define s whether to use a Gatekeeper o r Direct calling when es tablishing H323
calls.
NOTE! Direct H.323 calls can b e made even though the H.323 Call Setu p Mode is set to Gatekeeper.
Valuespace: <Direc t/Gatekeeper>
Direct: An IP-address mus t be used when dialling in o rder to make the H323 call.
Gatekeeper: The system wi ll use a Gatekeeper to make a H.323 call. W hen selecting this option t he
H323 Profile Gatekeeper Addre ss and H323 Profile Gatekeeper Di scovery settings mus t also be
configured.
Example: H323 Prole 1 CallSetup Mode: Gatekeeper

H323 Profile [1..1] Gatekeeper Address

Specifies the IP addres s of the Gatekeeper. Requires the H.323 Cal l Setup Mode to be set to Gatekeeper
and the Gatekeeper Discove ry to be set to Manual.
Valuespace: <S: 0, 255>
Format: String with a max imum of 255 characters.
Example: H323 Prole 1 Gatekeeper Address: “10.47.1.58”

H323 Profile [1..1] Gatekeeper Discovery

Determines how the system sh all register to a H.323 Gatekeeper.
Valuespace: <Manua l/Auto>
Manual: The system will us e a specific Gatekeeper id entified by the Gatekeeper’s IP-addr ess.
Auto: The system will automati cally try to register to any avail able Gatekeeper. If a Gatekeeper
responds to the request se nt from the codec within 30 se conds this specific Gateke eper will be used.
This requires that the Gateke eper is in auto discovery m ode as well. If no Gatekeeper re sponds, the
system will not use a Gatekeepe r for making H.323 calls and hen ce an IP-address must be spe cified
manually.
Example: H323 Prole 1 Gatekeeper Discovery: Manual

H323 Profile [1..1] H323Alias E164

The H.323 Alias E.164 defines the address of the syste m, according to the numberin g plan implemented
in the H.323 Gatekeeper. The E.164 alias is equivalent to a tel ephone number, sometimes co mbined with
access codes.
Valuespace: <S: 0, 30>
Format: Compact string wi th a maximum of 30 characte rs. Valid characters are 0– 9, * and #.
Example: H323 Prole 1 H323Alias E164: “90550092

H323 Profile [1..1] H323Alias ID

Lets you specify the H.323 Ali as ID which is used to address th e system on a H.323 Gatekeeper and wi ll
be displayed in the call list s. Example: “firstnam e.surname@comp any.com”, “My H.323 Alias ID”
Valuespace: <S: 0, 49>
Format: String with a max imum of 49 characters
Example: H323 Prole 1 H323Alias ID: “rstname.surname@company.com”

H323 Profile [1..1] PortAllocation

The H.323 Port Allocation s etting affects the H.245 por t numbers used for H.323 call si gnalling.
Valuespace: <Dynam ic/Static>
Dynamic: The system will a llocate which ports to use w hen opening a TCP connecti on. The reason for
doing this is to avoid using the sa me ports for subsequen t calls, as some firewalls con sider this as a
sign of attack. When Dyn amic is selected, the H.323 por ts used are from 11000 to 20999. Once 20999
is reached they restar t again at 11000. For RTP and RTCP media data, the syste m is using UDP ports
in the range 2326 to 2487. Each media channel is using t wo adjacent ports, ie 2330 a nd 2331 for RTP
and RTCP respectively. The por ts are automatically sele cted by the system within the give n range.
Firewall administrators sh ould not try to deduce whic h ports are used when, as th e allocation schema
within the mentioned ran ge may change without any fu rther notice.
Static: When set to Static the p orts are given within a stat ic predefined range [55 55–6555].
Example: H323 Prole 1 PortAllocation: Dynamic
