5–Recording

The PEAK indicator to the right of the display lights red just before the recording level begins to distort. Play the instrument or start playback on the connected device, and input the loudest volume you intend to record. Set the INPUT level as high as possible without making the PEAK indicator light red, and set the INPUT level as high as possible without making the PEAK indicator light red.

CAUTION

In order to hear through headphones the sound that you are recording from the built-in microphones or the line in jack,

the mic/line input must be ON ( or ). If the input is

off ( or ), press the /MIC button to turn it ON (

or ).

The input can be turned ON/OFF during recording.

Recording

Before following these procedures, adjust the input level and open the Home Screen.

1.Press the RECORD [º] button briefly to start ordinary recording.

When recording starts, the RECORD [º] button indicator lights and the display shows the elapsed and remaining recording times.

Press and hold the RECORD [º] button to enable the pre-record function and put the unit into recording standby. The RECORD [º] button indicator blinks when in recording standby. (See “Recording a few seconds before pushing the record button (pre-recording)” on page 51.)

2.Press the [ª] button to stop recording.

To pause recording, press the RECORD [º] button. To resume recording to the same file, press the RECORD [º] button again.

Press the [ª] button after pausing to complete the creation of an audio file with the music recorded up to the moment that recording was paused.
