For instruments with serialnumbers B020100 and above.
Remove. Toremove the LCD Display assembly:
1. Remove the top cover.Refer to Top Cover on page 6--5.
2. Grasp the sidesof the Display assembly and lift the assembly as shown in
Figure 6--2so that you can access the cables underneath the assembly.
3. Disconnect the20-pin ribbon cable as follows: (Refer to Figure 6--2on
page 6--9 and Figure 6--3on page 6--10for cable locations.)
a. Locate the connectorlatch on the back side of the LCD Display
assembly and pull thelatch out as shown in Figure 6--2 on page 6--9.
b. Pull the ribbon cable out of the connector.
4. Disconnect the 10-pin ribbon cablefrom the bottom of the Display assembly.
5. Remove the LCD Display assembly from the instrument.
NOTE. The 20-pin cable connecting the LCD Display assembly to the Bottom
boardis a zero insertion-force ribbon cable.
Replace. Toreplace an LCD Display assembly:
1. Connect the 10-pin ribboncable from the Bottom board into the back of the
display assembly.
2. Connect the 20-pin ribboncable from the Bottom board into the back of the
display assembly.
3. If you areinstalling a new ribbon cable, set the display just above its resting
position on the locating feet. Use your finger to creasethe ribbon cable so
that when the displayis set down on the locating feet, the ribbon cable does
not raise the display up offof the locating feet.
4. Set the display assemblyonto the four locating feet. The locating feet fit into
small holes in each of the four corners on the back of the display. See
Figure 6--3.
CAUTION. Toavoid damaging the LCD display, do not touch the face of the
display becauseit is hard to clean and is easily scratched.
