Replacement procedures

Replacing tires

This section provides procedures for replacing the following parts: the feed rollers, the pre-separation pad and the imaging guides. When replacing parts, turn the scanner off by pressing the power switch located in the back of the scanner and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

With proper cleaning, tire life of the pick roller, drive roller and separation roller is approximately 600,000 pages. Different document types, the condition of the documents being scanned, and the volume of scanning may alter that estimation.

All tires on the pick roller, drive roller and separation roller should be replaced at the same time. See the section entitled, “Cleaning the feed rollers” earlier in this chapter for procedures on removing and installing the feed rollers.

1.Open the scanner cover.

2.Remove the pick and drive rollers.

3.Gently remove each tire from the pick and drive rollers and dispose the old tires.

4.Install each new tire by gently pulling it over the core. The tires do not need to be installed in any specific orientation.

IMPORTANT:Do not overstretch the tire; it may tear.

5.Re-install the pick and drive rollers.

6.Pull the separation roller door forward and hold it in place while you remove the separation roller; gently release the separation roller door back in place.

7.Remove each tire from the separation roller and dispose the old tires.

8.Re-install the separation roller and verify that the separator roller is seated properly.

9.Close the scanner cover.

10.When all tires have been replaced, reset the maintenance reminder by clicking on the Replace Feed Rollers link on the Maintenance monitor.

11.Click Yes on the dialog box to confirm the tires/rollers have been replaced. The reminder will be reset for the next required maintenance session.
