Scramble Feature

If you have a confidential document which you don’t want to be visible to anyone. Your fax machine can scramble the image data of your copying or received document.

Also, your scrambled image data can be returned to the original one using the unscramble copying feature.

Scramble the Copying Document

If you want to scramble your confidential document, you can use this feature!

1.Adjust the document guides to fit the pages you’re scrambling and insert the document face down.

2.Press program, 8, mode/enter.

Scramble Copy

3.Press mode/enter.

SCR Key : 0000

4.Enter the four-digit scramble code (0000 through 9999) you wish to use. In the example, we have entered “0117”.

Important: Please note that you won’t be able to unscramble that document if you forget your scramble code.

If you wish to move the cursor to a different digit, press one-touch key a to move left or one-touch key b to move right.

5. Press copy.

Your machine will start copying and will scramble the document.

Unscramble the Document

Your machine can unscramble your document that you scrambled using the four- digit scramble code.

Note: To unscramble the document, you must know the four-digit scramble code for it.

1.Adjust the document guides to fit the pages you’re unscrambling and insert them face down.

2.Press program, 8, mode/enter, 2.

Unscramble Copy

3.Press mode/enter.

SCR Key : 0000

4. Use the numeric keypad to enter the four-digit scramble code.

Note: The unscramble code should be the same as the code used to scramble the document.

In the example, we’ve entered “0117”.

SCR Key : 0117

If you wish to move the cursor to a different digit, press one-touch key a to move left or one-touch key b to move right.

5. Press Copy.

The document will be unscrambled and be printed as normal document.

Note: You may not be able to unscramble your document if your document is inserted into your machine’s feeder incorrectly. Please re-insert the document and retry the above steps.

Scramble the Received Document

Your machine can also scramble the document as it is received from the remote machine -you can designate up to 10 scramble boxes. In each location you can register the last four-digits of the remote machine’s Subscriber ID and the four- digit scramble code.

When you’ve activated this feature and a fax message arrives, your machine checks to see if a phone number in your scramble boxes matches the last four- digit of the remote fax machine’s Subscriber ID.

If it finds no such match, your machine receives the document normally.

First, you must create the scramble box and activate this feature (see below).

Create or Modify the scramble box

1.Press program, 8, mode/enter, 3.

Set Scramble Rx

2.Press mode/enter.

If 0 is the box you want to use, skip to step 4.

3.Use the numeric keypad to enter the scramble box number (0 through 9).

4.Press mode/enter.

If the scramble box hasn’t yet been created, the LCD will show:
