Answering Machine

Note: As a security measure, your fax’s speaker is silent during any remote access operations; the only fax audio output during remote access is over the phone line to you. This assures that no one near the fax can listen in while you’re operating remotely.

Note: Once you have gained remote access to your fax, you may perform more than one remote operation on the same call. You needn’t hang up and call back just to perform each new remote operation.

Playing (or Stopping the playing of) messages remotely: 1, #

To play your messages while calling from another phone:

1.Gain remote access to the fax as described in “Accessing Your Fax Remotely” (page 4.11).

2.Press 1 followed by # for about a second each.

Your fax will beep once, then play the memo (if currently stored), followed by the incoming messages in chronological order ---- the oldest message coming first and

the most recently played message played last. (Contact your authorized Muratec facsimile dealer for more detail.) The fax will beep briefly between messages.

To stop playing the messages, press 1 and # again.

Repeating a message remotely: 2, #

To return to the beginning of the message currently being played, press 2 followed by # for about a second each. After a brief pause, your fax will beep, then play the message again.

To hear the previous message, press 2 #, wait to hear the beep and then immediately press 2 # again.

Skipping a message remotely: 3, #

To skip a message while listening to it remotely, press 3 followed by # for about a second each.

Your fax will skip the remainder of the current message and begin playing the next message. This does not erase the message you skipped.

Recording your first outgoing message remotely: 4, #

To record the first outgoing message remotely:

1.Gain remote access to the fax as described in “Accessing Your Fax Remotely” (page 4.11).

2.Press 4 followed by # for about a second each.

3.After a beep, speak clearly into the telephone handset.

Note: Your outgoing message can be no longer than 10 seconds (see page 4.3).

4. When you have finished, press # to stop recording.

Erasing a message remotely: 5, #

To erase a message while listening to it remotely, press 5 followed by # for about a second each. The unit will erase the message that had been playing, and then play the next message saved.

Erasing all messages remotely: 0, 0, #

To erase all incoming messages and the memo:

1.Gain remote access to the fax as described in “Accessing Your Fax Remotely” (page 4.11).

2.Press 0 (zero) twice, followed by # once, for about a second each.

Note: This command does not erase either any voice mail boxes’ messages or your outgoing messages.

Selecting manual answer remotely: 6, #

If you want your fax to ignore all subsequent calls while you’re away from home, you can select the manual answer setting remotely.

To do this, call your unit and follow steps 1 through 4 to access the fax. Then press 6 followed by # for about a second each. Your unit will turn off answering machine mode and will ignore all subsequent voice and fax calls (this also cancels the pager feature; see next item).

Turning on the pager function remotely: 7, #

As discussed earlier (see “Paging,” pages 4.15-4.16), you can set your fax to call you each time a caller leaves a message on your answering machine. Better still, your fax even allows you to activate (and deactivate ---- see next item) this feature

by remote control.

1.Gain remote access to the fax as described in “Accessing Your Fax Remotely” (page 4.11).

2.Press 7 followed by # for about a second each.

Turning off the pager function remotely: 8, #

To turn off the pager function:

1.Gain remote access to the fax as described in “Accessing Your Fax Remotely” (page 4.11).

2.Press 8 followed by # for about a second each.
