Back Up Power Supply OmniSwitch 6600 Series Chassis and Hardware Components

Back Up Power Supply

OmniSwitch 6600 series switches provide one factory-installed power supply per chassis. Each switch also provides one bay for the optional OS66BPS-100A back up power supply. The back up power supply bay is located on the chassis rear panel (see page 2-12for details).

For information on installing a back up power supply, refer to page 2-20. For information on removing a back up power supply, refer to page 2-22.

Type IEC-320-C13. Supports one 10 amp power cord.

It is recommended that you use Alcatel-provided power cords.

Back Up Power Supply Front Panel

Power Supply Redundancy

After a back up power supply is installed, the primary (factory-installed) power supply continues to take on the full power load for switch operations. Meanwhile, the back up power supply operates in active standby mode. If the primary power supply fails unexpectedly, the back up power supply automatically takes up the full power load without disrupting the switch.
