Installing an Expansion Card
You can install printed circuit boards (called cards) for video and graphics applications, networking and communications, additional processing power, or other purposes. The cards fit into expansion slots inside the computer.
Your Macintosh has six expansion slots, each designed to accept a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) card. There is also an expansion slot that contains the computer’s processor card. (The processor card can be upgraded by replacing it with a more powerful processor card.)
WARNING If an expansion card requires an adapter, be sure to use the adapter card designed specifically for your model of the computer. Failure to do so could damage the card and your computer.
