BJ-10 Character Sets

In BJ-10 mode, your printer supports two IBM code pages: USA code page 437 and Multilingual code page 850. Each code page has three character sets: Character Set 1, Character Set 2, and All Characters Chart.

You select the code page by setting DIP switch 9: OFF for code page 437, ON for 850. You select the character set by setting DIP swich 5: OFF for Character Set 1, ON for Character Set 2.

Each code page corresponds to an All Characters Chart. For the All Characters Chart, there are no control codes except for the space code at ASCII 32. All other ASCII characters are printable. The All Characters Chart is selected by the ESC ^ or the ESC \ code.

Character Set 1 has control codes in two places: one between ASCII 0 and ASCII 32 and the other between ASCII 128 adn ASCII 159. Character Set 2 has control codes only between ASCII 0 and 32. All other ASCII characters are printable.

The three character sets for each code page are shown on following pages.

NOTE: A control code is an unprintable character that the printer uses for printer operations, such as line spacing or carriage return.
