Moving a Jumper

A jumper’s setting is determined by where the jumper is placed on the pins. The jumper either connects pin A and the middle pin (position A) or connects pin B and the middle pin (position B), as shown below. (The letters A and B are shown here for position only. They do not appear on the jumper.)

If you need to change any jumper settings, follow these steps:

1.If you have not already done so, remove the cover and the subassembly from the computer. See Chapter 5 for instructions.

2.To move a jumper from one position to the other, use needle-nose pliers or tweezers to pull it off its pins and gently move it to the desired position. Be careful not to lose the jumper.

Caution

Take care not to bend the jumper pins or damage any surrounding components on the main system board.

3.Follow the instructions in Chapter 5 to replace the subassembly and the computer’s cover.
