Removing a Hard Disk from the Vertical Position

You need to remove the hard disk drive from the vertical position in the following cases:

The drive needs servicing.

You are replacing the drive.

You are adding a second drive (either another hard disk drive or a diskette drive) in the lower horizontal position.

Follow these steps:

1.Remove the computer’s cover and subassembly, if you have not already done so. See Chapter 5 for instructions.

2.Remove the retaining screw securing the hard disk drive mounting plate to the subassembly and set it aside.

3.Tilt the hard disk drive slightly to the right and lift it up and away from the subassembly. Set the drive next to the subassembly so the component side faces up.
