When Auto speed is enabled, the computer automatically switches to low speed whenever it needs to access a diskette drive. It runs at high speed for all other operations.

There are different types of copy-protected programs. Depending on the type you have, you may or may not want to enable the Auto speed function. Follow these guidelines:

Cl If you are using a copy-protected program that can run only on a diskette or that requires a key disk, try to start the program on high speed. If this works, you do not need to enable the Auto speed function.

If you can’t load the program on high, enable Auto speed.

DIf you are using a copy-protected program that does not require a key disk but requires a special procedure to install the program on a hard disk, set the CPU SPEED switch on the front panel to LOW while you are installing the program. Once it is installed, set the switch to HIGH, where you should be able to leave it while you load and run the program.

LI If this does not work, try loading the program at low speed and then switch to high to run it. Do not enable the Auto speed function.

Follow these steps to change the Auto speed setting:

1.At the main Setup menu, highlight Auto speed and press Enter. The current status appears:

Auto speed disabled

** SAVE SETTING **

If the displayed setting is correct, press 1‘ to return to the main Setup menu.
