1. Make sure the printer is connected to your computer as

described on page 1-10.

2. Turn off your printer and computer, if necessary.

3. First turn on your printer and then turn on the computer.

Your computer starts loading Windows 95.

4. If you use a password, enter it at the prompt. You see the

New Hardware Found screen.

Note:

If you do not see the New Hardware Found screen, or if you run

into any kind of problem, click Cancel and follow the

instructions under “Installing the printer driver using My

Computer” on page 2 -2.

5. Make sure the screen displays your printer model name.

Then click the Driver from disk provided by hardware

manufacturer radio button.

Note:

The next time you turn on your computer after you install the

driver, Windows 95 may display the New Hardware Found

screen again. If this happens, select the Do no t install a driver

radio button and then click OK. This screen will not appear again.

6. Click OK. You see the Install From Disk screen.

7. Insert Disk 1 of your printer driver software in a disk drive.

8. If you inserted the disk in drive A, type “Win95” and click

OK. Otherwise, change the drive letter in the Copy

manufacturer’s files from box a nd click OK.

9. You can type a unique name for the printer in the printer

name box in the Add Printer Wizard dialog box. We

recommend that you keep the model name as shown.

Paper handling Single sheets loaded from the paper guide The printer does not load single-sheets of paper. The platen does not rotate and the printer does not feed the paper. The platen rotates but the printer does not feed the paper. Paper feeding is crooked or the paper jams. 8-10 The printer does not fully eject the paper. When the printer ejects the paper, the Paper Out flashes and the Pause light comes on. Continuous paper The printer does not load continuous paper. Paper feeding is crooked or the paper jams. 8-12 The top-of-form position of your continuous paper varies when you print several pages. The printer prints on (or too far away from) the perforation of your continuous paper. The printer does not eject your continuous paper properly. 8-14 Page The cut-sheet feeder feeds more than one sheet at a time. Paper feeding is crooked. 8-16 When the printer ejects the paper, the Paper Out flashes and the Pause light comes on. One page of your document is printed on two pages. Operation The Pause light is off but the printer does not print. The Paper Out and Pause lights are on and the printer does not print. The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing prints. 8-18 The printer makes a strange noise and stops abruptly. The printer stops printing and the Pause light flashes. Printout Part of the printout is missing, or dots are missing in random positions. Lines of dots are missing in the printout as shown below. w 8-20 Incorrect characters are printed. The typestyles or characters set in your application software cannot be printed. Printing starts too high or too low on the page. All the text is printed on the same line.
