Using the printer driver

Before you start printing, you should make sure that the printer

driver settings match your document requirements. While

many Windows applications override the printer settings made

with the driver, some do not.

See this section for instructions on how to access the printer

driver, check the printer driver settings, and change settings if

necessary.

Accessing the printer driver from Windows applications

When you access the printer driver f rom a Windows

application, any settings you make apply only to the

application you are using. The access method explained below

is typical for many Windows applications, but the way you

access your printer driver may differ depending on your

application. See your application manual for details.

To access the printer driver, select Print Setup or Print from the

File menu of your application software. If you choose Print

Setup, you see your application’s Print Setup dialog box. If you

choose Print, you see your application’s Print dialog box.

To access the printer driver from the Print dialog box, choose

Printer, Setup, Properties, or Options, depending on the

options available in your application. (You may need to choose

a combination of these options.) The Properties window

appears. The Page Setup and Advanced menus contain the

printer driver settings. Click the tabs at the top of the window

to open these menus.

The printer prints on (or too far away from) the perforation of your continuous paper. The printer does not eject your continuous paper properly. 8-14 Page The cut-sheet feeder feeds more than one sheet at a time. Paper feeding is crooked. 8-16 When the printer ejects the paper, the Paper Out flashes and the Pause light comes on. One page of your document is printed on two pages. Operation The Pause light is off but the printer does not print. The Paper Out and Pause lights are on and the printer does not print. The printer sounds like it is printing, but nothing prints. 8-18 The printer makes a strange noise and stops abruptly. The printer stops printing and the Pause light flashes. Printout Part of the printout is missing, or dots are missing in random positions. Lines of dots are missing in the printout as shown below. w 8-20 Incorrect characters are printed. The typestyles or characters set in your application software cannot be printed. Printing starts too high or too low on the page. All the text is printed on the same line.
