Configuration and

Control

This section describes the serial, Ethernet, and USB connections through which the Extron Simple Instruction Set (SIS) commands can be issued, and lists the commands that are available for configuring and controlling the AVT 200HD. Topics include:

Serial Port

USB Port

Ethernet Port

Using SIS Commands

Accessing the AVT 200HD Control Software

Serial Port

The AVT supports RS-232 serial communication protocol and can operate at 9600, 19200, 38400, or 115200 baud rates (see “Configuring the serial port and IP parameters” in the “Operation” section to configure this port using the front panel menus).

The 5-pole shared 3.5 mm captive screw connector labeled RS-232/IR on the rear panel can be connected to the serial port of a host device such as a computer running a utility such as the Extron DataViewer or HyperTerminal, an RS-232 capable PDA, or a control system (see “Wiring for RS-232 Control” in the “Installation” section for information on connecting to this port).

USB Port

SIS commands can also be sent through the USB Config port on the AVT front panel, using Extron DataViewer or another utility that accommodates USB. (see “Connecting to the USB Port” in the “Installation” section to set up communication via USB).

Ethernet Port

The RJ-45 connector on the rear panel can be connected to an Ethernet LAN or WAN to enable SIS control of the AVT. The tuner and the controlling device can communicate via Extron DataViewer or Telnet (a TCP socket using port 23). The Telnet port number can be changed, if necessary, via SIS commands (see “Connecting as a Telnet Client” in the “Reference Information” section for information on connecting via Telnet).

Ethernet Cable

The Ethernet cable must be properly terminated for your application as either a straight- through cable or a crossover cable (see “Ethernet Connection” in the “Installation” section for pin assignments for these cables).
